Google Messages May Get Group Sharing via Links
Google Messages may get a quality of life improvement, with an APK teardown indicating it may soon be possible to join group chats via a shared link.
The good folks over at Android Authorityroutinely do APK teardowns of beta version of Google apps and Android releases to get an idea what the company is planning to unveil. In the latest teardown of Google Messages, it appears Google plans to implement a feature that would allow users to invite others to a group chat via a link.
Such a feature would be one step closer toward Messages competing more directly with WhatsApp and other dedicated chat platforms.
The new beta also has several tweaks and interface improvements, such as a card-based UI for message forwarding, tweaked profile screen, better visual prompt for changing group message icons, and the ability to report inappropriate images by long-pressing them.
